EMBRY-RIDDLE STUDY ABROAD 2025

In early Summer 2025, I spent a month abroad in Ireland, immersing myself in the culture of the nation, and learning about the rich history of Ireland.

My group flew into Dublin first, where we met up at the airport and quickly made our way to DCU, where we stayed for a week immersing ourselves in the nation’s capital. While here, we visited the Irish Rock ‘N Roll Museum, the Guinness Storehouse, went to a Literature Festival, explored the Marsh Library, went to St. Patrick’s Cathedral, visited the Dublin Zoo, and experienced the nightlife of Dublin with concerts & pubs!

Following Dublin, we went by train into Cork, where we quickly made our way to UCC, where we stayed for another week. While here, we went on Ghost Tours, did the Ring of Kerry, went on a walking tour of the city, went to Midleton Distillery, and went on a sea safari exploring the coastlines of Southern Ireland!

When we finished with Cork, we moved on to my favorite city we’ve been to, which was Galway, where we stayed for 4 days. While in Galway, we explored the city, where we went to the Aran Islands and visited the Cliffs of Moher, before going on a Food Tour.

We then moved to Londonderry/Derry for a few days, where we learned about the Troubles and the effects it had on the modern society of Northern Ireland. We took a ‘Free Derry Walking Tour’, as well as visited the Peace Bridge, before going to the Giant’s Causeway, Bushmill’s Distillery, and walking the Carrick-a-rede Rope Bridge.

Our next destination was Belfast, where we stayed for roughly a week at Queen’s University, exploring the city and it’s rich history, as well as some of the Northern Irish spirit in terms of protests. While in Belfast, we visited the Titanic Museum and the Crumpin Road Goal, did a Black Taxi Tour, and got physical with the Gaelic Games Experience! Additionally, while here, we took a day trip to Scotland, where we visited the Edinburgh Castle and immersed ourselves in Edinburgh’s history.

Once all was said and done, we went back to Dublin, where we went back to DCU, saw another concert, visited the Old Jameson Distillery, and did the Book of Kells Experience & Trinity Trials, before having one final dinner and heading off back to America.

All throughout the trips, we held classes in various locations, all of which we did assignments for and delivered speeches, as I was in Humanities & Speech abroad the trip. If you’d like to see what I did while in Ireland, feel free to check out the links below!
